Routing: Arusha-Lake Manyara-Serengeti-Ngorongoro-Tarangire-Arusha.
Day 1: Arusha to Lake Manyara
Arrival with shuttle bus from Nairobi at 12.30 pm. Lunch in arusha. After lunch transfer to Lake Manyara National park for dinner and overnight at Mto-wa –Mbu campsite. Hot water and shower facilities available.
Day 2: Lake Manyara to Serengeti
Early morning game drive at Lake Manyara is followed by breakfast. Further game drive in the park till lunchtime.
The famous spectacles in Lake Manyara National Park are the tree-climbing lions. The park covers 390sq km and sanctuary to cover 400 species of bird including flamingo, pelican, storks, sacred ibis, cormorants and Egyptian geese. The park is particularly noted for its huge herds of buffalo and elephant. Also giraffe, impala, hippo and a great variety of smaller animals.
After lunch depart for Serengeti. You arrive with a game drive as you head for the campsite at Seronera campsite. No shower facitilies. Hot water can be provided on request.
Day 3: Day in Serengeti
Full day game activities in Serengeti.
The Serengeti National park is a arguably the best known wildlife sanctuary in the world with over 3 million large mammals. About 35 species of plains animals can be seen there including the “big 5” - Elephant, Rhino, Lion, Leopard and Buffalo. Other common species found here includes hippo, giraffe, eland, impala and other antelope types, baboons, monkey and a profusion of over 500 species of birds.
In May or early June, huge herds of wildebeest, gazelle and zebra begin their annual spectacular migration northwards. In their wake follow predators, lion, cheetah and wild dogs with vultures circling overhead! The Serengeti is also famous for its 500 species of birdlife, both migrant and resident, and the black and white colobus monkey. All meals and overnight at the campsite in Seronera.
Day 4: Serengeti to Ngorogoro
Early morninga game drive is followed by breakfast at the camp. More game drive till lunch time. After lunch proceed to Ngorongoro via Olduvai. Proceed on to Simba Campsite on the rim of the crater. This huge public campsite is in a spectacular location on the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater. Hot water and shower facilities available.
Day 5: Day in Ngorongoro – Crater tour: Drive to Mto wa Mbu
After breakfast at the campsite, descend into the crater for a full day crater tour with picnic lunch.
Ngorongoro crater, at 2,286 m. above the sea level, is the largest unbroken caldera in the world. The natural amphitheatre covers an area of about 260 sq km-that’s 100 sq miles- and is home to up to 30,000 animals, almost half of the zebra and wildebeest. There are also gazelle, buffalo, eland, hartebeest and wart hog. More than 100 species of birds not found in Serengeti are spotted here. At 1600 hours, ascend the crater and depart heading for Mto Wa Mbu campsite for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Drive Mto wa Mbu to Tarangire
After breakfast leave for Tarangire. Full day in Tarangire. Dinner and overnight at camp site. No shower facilities. Hot water can be provided on request. A very basic campsite located on a small hill not far from the tarmac road from Arusha. The most convenient place to stay at on the way to Tarangire National Park - the park gate is just 10 minutes drive away. Facilities available include, dusty camping, toilets, showers, small bar, covered cooking and dining areas. Good security.
Day 7: Drive Tarangire to Arusha – depart
After breakfast leave for Arusha. Lunch in Arusha. Afternoon shuttle to Nairobi.
