The West Coast of Zanzibar is home to spectacular white beaches splashed with the warm azure waters of the Indian Ocean offering travelers the ideal spot to unwind and soak up the sun after a day of busy sightseeing. The beaches are paradise, dotted with lovely little fishing villages.
This is the best location for those who want to stay close to the Stone Town while still enjoying the beach ambiance.
Off the West Coast, and not far from the Stone Town is the Prison Island. Built as a slave jail though never used, the island is close to Stone Town. With a fine white beach, some giant tortoises and an excellent coral reef Prison Island is perfect for snoring and snorkeling.
Towards the southern tip of Zanzibar Island, at Kizimkazi village, take a boat ride from the village and later enjoy a swim with several schools of bottle-nosed dolphin.
