Mountain national park/ world heritage site (44,200 acres/ 17,900 ha), in the simen mountains, is a wonderland of extremely deep gorges and grassy plateaus. Ras Dashan, at 15,158’ (4,620m) the tallest mountain in Ethiopia, has frequent snowfall.
Getting to Mountain national park
Visitors to Simen Park and Ras Dashan (just outside the park) must travel by foot or horseback. Safaris leave from the town of Debarek, reachable by road northeast of the city of Gonder.
