Hell’s gate is an awe-inspiring scenery with dramatic and ochre-colored cliffs, volcanic plugs. There are three entrances to the park: Elsa gate, which is the headquarters, Olkari gate and Narasha gate.
Getting to Hell’s Gate National Park.
The park is 95km from Nairobi and the first entrance which is Elsa gate is 2km off the Moi south Lake road, about 20k from turn-off to Naivasha town.Olkari gate is 7 km off Moi south Lake Road, near Elsamere; and Narasha gate exists to the south, eventually joining the B3 to Suswa and Mara after 12 km. It is preferable to have a 4WD.
Major attractions in Hell’s Gate National Park.
While there you can enjoy walking, cycling, and rock climbing unaccompanied by rangers. During these activities you can have several viewing circuits off the main route-Twiga and Buffalo are in eastern section of the park. From here you can also visit the obsidian caves. There is good game viewing with a chance of seeing hyrax at Fischer’s tower.
Accommodation options in Hell’s Gate National Park.
The park has tree big campsites with pit latrines and water tap, which is not so reliable for this reason it advisable that you carry your own water. The camp sites are Naiburta which is at the top of a bluff looking south over the park. It’s is an excellent lookout post for watching the game coming to water below. Other camps are Oldubai on the Twiga circuit, Narasha gate and Ol Karia.
