Gombe Stream National Park - Tanzania

Gombe lies 16 km (about 10 miles) north of Kigoma on the shore of Lake Tanganyika in western Tanzania. Its Tanzania's smallest park and covers only 52 sq km. It can only be reached by boat from the Kigoma.
While there one has the chance to view the Chimpanzee communities and a number of monkey species. The colobus, red-tail and blue monkeys.
Getting to Gombe Stream National Park
Drive, scheduled or charter flight from Dar or Arusha, slow train from Dar to Mwanza or lake ferry from Burundi or Zambia to Kigoma then local or charter boat from Kigoma to Gombe (2-3 hrs).
Attractions at Gombe Stream Park
Chimpanzee trekking;

swimming/snorkeling;
visit the site of Henry Stanley's famous "Dr Livingstone I presume" at Ujiji, near Kigoma and
Watching the renowned dhow builders at work.
Best time to visit Gombe Stream Park
The chimps don't toam as far in the wet (February-June, November- mid December) so may be easier to find; better picture opportunities in the dry (July-October and late December).
