This is a 10 day tour focusing on Kenya Big 5 animals safari, followed by Gorilla Trekking trip in Bwindi National park in Uganda. The Kenya-Rwanda Trip takes 7 days in Kenya and 3 Days in Uganda.

The wildlife safari and gorilla tour begins with visits to Kenya’s Amboseli, Lake Naivasha, Masai Mara before flying to Kigali for a 3 day Gorilla trekking  expedition.

Day 1: Arrive Nairobi

Upon arrival at the international airport, you will go through the medical, immigration and customs procedures. You will then transfer to your hotel for the night.  Kenya’s capital city has risen in a single century from a brackish uninhabited swampland to a thriving modern capital.

Modern Nairobi is still the safari capital of the Africa, but the modern world has quickly caught up with the city. A frontier town no more, Nairobi is one of Africa’s largest, and most interesting cities. Nairobi is a city that never seems to sleep. The entire town has a boundless energy, and is thriving place where all of human life can be found. This is a place of great contrasts where race, tribe and origin all become facets of a unique Nairobi character. The city has not lost its sense of the past, with an excellent museum and the historical home of Karen Blixen, author of Out of Africa open to visitors.

This is not a modern capital separated from the great wilderness that surrounds it. Just outside the city is Nairobi National Park, 113 sq. kms of plains, cliffs and forest. The park is home to large herds of zebra, Wildebeest, Buffalo, Giraffe and more. Rhino, Cheetah, and a large number of Lions are all found here, living wild within 20 minutes of the centre of town.

Day 2: Road Transfer Nairobi to Amboseli National Park

0800 Hrs. Tour briefing and depart for Amboseli National park to arrive in time for lunch, there after lunch proceed with game drives in the park, later evening drive back to the lodge camping for dinner and overnight at Amboseli AA lodge or similar.

Day 3: Game Drives and Safaris in Amboseli Park

Early morning game drives at 0600hrs, then at 0830 back to your lodge for breakfast. There after, rest at leisure in the lodge for breakfast. There after rest at leisure in the lodge till hot lunch. After lunch proceed with afternoon game viewing on the park.  Amboseli National park is Kenya’s second most popular game park, after Masai Mara, the Park is home to an abundance of wildlife, including buffalos, leopards, spotted hyenas, giraffes, antelopes, cheetahs and over 300 bird species.

It has wide dry plains, where the horizons stretch into the furthest distance and become one with the sky. Amboseli is renowned for its elephant populations and large herds, including some impressively tusked bulls, that are drawn to a series of large, lush swamplands.  You will have dinner and overnight at Amboseli AA lodge or similar.

Day 4:  Road Transfer  Amboseli – Lake Naivasha

You wake up to spectacular scenes of the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro on a clear morning. After enjoying your breakfast, you will check out and proceed on the morning game drives till you exit the park.

The drive to Lake Naivasha via Nairobi is a relaxing and scenic experience cutting across the serene country side. You will stop for lunch at a designated restaurant in Nairobi and thereafter head to Naivasha where you arrive in the afternoon to enjoy a refreshing boat ride in the lake. After this you will check in  at the lodge.

Day 5: Road Transfer to Maasai Mara Reserve

After breakfast, then at 0800hrs check out and short game viewing as you depart for Maasai Mara crossing the Loita plains, view scenarios en route including Lake Elementaita, Mt.Longonot, as well see red-clad Maasai warriors tend their multi-colored herds amongst plains game.

Game viewing en route to Mara Sopa lodge for lunch. Afternoon game drive inside the scenic park well known for great concentration of wild game. Dinner and overnight at Mara Sopa lodge.

Day 6 and 7: Safari Activities in Maasai Mara Reserve

This day you spend a morning and afternoon game viewing in the reserve. You will have all meals Lunch dinner and overnight at your lodge – Mara Sopa lodge or similar.

Search for wild game including the huge black manned lion for which Mara is famous for, splendid cheetah, African buffalo, wildebeest (gnus), zebra, leopard, grants gazelle are quite common, even the rare rhino might come out of the thicket for you, hyenas are plentiful, Extend your drive to the hippo point where schools of hippo submerge on the approach of vehicles only to surface seconds later to shot and gamble their displeasure as the crocodiles sunbathe on the river banks mouths agape. Between meals there is optional visit to the Maasai villages for an insight to their culture if clients so wish. Meals and overnight at Mara Sopa lodge.

Day 8: Fly Maasai Mara –  Bwindi

After breakfast, we shall transfer you to the airstrip for a flight to Bwindi Impenetrable park – with a detour in Kisumu and Entebbe for customs and immigrations procedures.

You will fly  to Bwindi (Kisoro or Kihihi) depending on availability of gorilla permits.  Your airport transfer this morning is booked with your accommodation, you are expected to be at the airport at least 1 hour before take-off. Your flight to Bwindi will be in a 11-seater Cessna Caravan. Each passenger is allowed a luggage limit of 15 kilos.

On arrival at the airstrip, a representative from your accommodation will be waiting for your transfer to your accommodation. Depending on the time you arrive at your accommodation; you may choose to relax or go for an optional activity.

Day 9: Trek The Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi or Mt Gahinga

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the park headquarters for briefing. A packed lunch and mineral water will be provided. If you have any particular interests during the trekking, speak to your driver/guide who will help arrange this with the park rangers.  After briefing, you will be transferred to your starting point.

We encourage you to hire a porter. Porters are members of the community whose main role during the hike is to help you carry your luggage and assist you during the hike whenever needed. By hiring a porter, you are making a valuable contribution to the community.  Gorilla trekking is unpredictable. It’s difficult to foresee how many hours you will hike. The gorilla excursion can take from 2 up to 8 hours. A good physical condition is recommended. For conservation purposes, time spent with the gorillas is limited to one hour. A ranger will brief you on how to behave with the gorillas.  Dinner and Overnight at your accommodation.

Bwindi Impenetrable NP has a unique rich and varied ecosystem and has lowland rain forest and afromontane forest. It’s considered as one of the most unique and important forests of Africa. UNESCO declared it as a Natural World Heritage site for Humanity for his many values and because it is vital to the survival of many endangered species.

Day 10: Air Transfer to Entebbe, Nairobi and Departure

If you are staying in Buhoma, you have the option of 3 flights: morning, mid-morning and afternoon. In Kisoro, only 1 flight is available and it departs in the morning.  Your driver/guide will transfer you to the airstrip 1 hour before take-off as advises for your flight to Entebbe.

On arrival in Entebbe, you may connect to your departure flight or may be transferred to your accommodation in Entebbe.
