Routing: Nairobi – Meru National Park – Samburu – Aberdares – Lake Nakuru – Maaasai Mara
Day 1: Arrival Nairobi – Overnight
On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International airport, you are met by Hallmark Travel Planners representative. You transfer to Sarova Panafric Hotel for overnight. Booked on Bed and breakfast mealplan.
Day 2: Drive Nairobi to Meru National Park
Breakfast at your hotel in Nairobi. After breakfast, begin the drive to Meru National park. You drive past the rich agricultural highlands of central Kenya on the way to the park. You will arrive in time for lunch a the lodge.
Kenya’s Meru National Park was made famous by the writings of Joy Adamson, most noted for her book Born Free, the true story of Elsa, the lioness, and her return into the wild.
The park lies in the north-eastern lowlands below the Nyambeni hills. Meru forms part of a larger wilderness area along the Tana River, including Bisanadi and Mwingi National Reserves, Kora national park and Rahole national reserve. The wetter north-western sector is hilly, with rich volcanic soils. Numerous permanent streams cross this are, and three large rivers straddle the reserve: the Tana River to the south, the Ura River to the south-west and the Rojeweru River to the east. Rain falls from Mar-May and from Nov-Dec. Game viewing is best in the dry months. Dinner and overnight at Elsa's Kopje Lodge or similar.
Day 3: Day in Meru National Park
Early morning game drive before breakfast. After breakfast, relax at the lodge by the pool till lunch time. At 1630 hours, game drive begins running till sunset. Dinner and overnight at Elsa's Kopje Lodge or similar.
Day 4: Drive Meru to Samburu Game Reserve
Breakfast at the lodge in Meru. After this, you begin drive towards Samburu Game reserve in the northern part of Kenya, just past Isiolo town. You arrive just in time for lunch.
Samburu game reserve, buffalo springs and Shaba game reserve together cover a total of 428 sq. km. With the same faunal structure, the 3 wildlife reserves, lie just within the fascinating semi-desert Northern Frontier District of Kenya.
With a magnificent background of jagged, purple mountains, a safari in these small gems in the wildlife wilderness, will provide some of the best and most colorful game viewing in the country. At 1630, game drive till sunset in the reserve. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Simba Lodge or similar.
Day 5: Day in Samburu Game Reserve
All day game viewing in Samburu game reserve. Optional picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Simba Lodge or similar.
Day 6: Drive Samburu Game reserve to Aberdare National Park
Early morning game drive followed by breakfast. After breakfast, check out and begin the drive to Aberdare National park. You arrive in time for lunch at the base hotel of the tree lodge.
Aberdare National park lies within a beautiful mountain range in the central highlands of The park is a fairy tale place of dense forest, misty moorlands and alpine plants where icy rivers plunge in glorious cascades and waterfalls. After lunch, transfer to the tree lodge. Afternoon and overnight game viewing from the comfort of the lodge. Dinner and overnight at the Treetops Hotel.
Day 7: Drive from Aberdares to Lake Nakuru
After breakfast at the treehotel, depart for the rift valley area. You arrive Lake Nakuru National park and have lunch at the lodge. After lunch, relax at your lodge till 1630 hours. Game drive follows till sunset.
Lake Nakuru National park is one of the finest ornithological sights in the world, famous haunt of thousand of flamingoes which feed on the algae in the 40 cm deep lake. Superb example of conservation at work in the wild, Lake Nakuru is now, with the assistance of the World Wildlife Foundation, providing sanctuary for Rothschild Giraffe, Black and White Rhino and Leopard who live in perfect harmony in this aquatic landscape. The edge of the lake is frequently a crimson ribbon of Greater and Lesser Flamingoes, while pelicans and other water birds swim and fish in majestic flotilla formation. Dinner and overnight at Flamingo Hill Tented camp or similar.
Day 8: Drive from Lake Nakuru to Maasai Mara
Early morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National park before breakfast. After breakfast, depart for the famous Maasai Mara Game reserve. You arrive in time for lunch at the Mara. Check in at the lodge. After lunch, relax till time for the late afternoon game drive that goes until sunset. Dinner and overnight at Mara Simba Lodge or similar.
Day 9: Day in Maasai Mara
0630 hours early morning game drive followed by breakfast at your lodge. Further game drive in the Mara with picnic lunch if you wish. Dinner and overnight at Mara Simba Lodge or similar.
Day 10: Drive to Nairobi – Depart
Early morning game drive will be followed by breakfast before you depart and return back to Nairobi. You arrive in the early afternoon and drive to Carnivore Restaurant for dinner. Transfer to the airport for your home bound flight.
