>>>Mid-december to Early February - Short Dry Season Good time for gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National park. Forest is drier and more accessible.
>>>Mid-February to June – Rainy Season If you are considering Rwanda gorilla tracking safari, note that the long rainy season starts from mid-february till early June. The earth-roads are muddy. It is generally very wet and there are lots of mosquitoes.
But for Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe forest, this period is better as the chimps are easy to find not having to go deeper into the remote parts of the forest. This time if also better for photographers as the air is clearer giving the stunning views of the rolling hills and country side scenery.
>>>June to September - Long Dry Season This is the best time to go gorilla tracking in Volcanoes National park. The roads are in good shape. It is also a good time for chimpanzee tracking and hiking in Nyungwe forest park.
>>>October to Mid-December – Short Rainy Season Heavy rains in the eastern mountains therefore might not be the best time for gorilla trekking, even though the gorilla are resident and will be there all through the year.
