Routing: Entebbe-Murchison Falls-Kibale Forest-Queen Elizabeth - Entebbe.
Day 1: Arrival Entebbe
On arrival at Entebbe Airport, you are met by Hallmark Travel Planners representative and transfer to Lake Victoria Hotel. Visit the Entebbe Botanical Gardens if time allows.
Day 2: Drive Entebbe – Lake Albert – Murchison Falls Park.
Breafast at the Hotel. After breakfast, begin the 7 hours drive to Murchison Falls National Park via Masindi and Biso. From Biso drop down the escarpment of The Great African Rift Valley {the Western Corridor} with spectacular views of Lake Albert. Drive along the valley floor to the southern banks of the Victoria Nile River. Arrive Nile Safari camp in time for lunch. Nile Safari Camp is located on the banks of the Victoria Nile with each tented room overlooking the river. Each room has en suite shower and toilet at the rear, in front a deck to relax. The bar and restaurant also overlook the river with beautiful views of the sun setting over the river. A pool is also available.
Dinner and overnight at Nile Safari Camp.
Day 3: Murchison Falls Park
Drive to Paraa, take launch trip on the Victoria Nile to the base of Murchison Falls, viewing game and birds en route. Nile crocodile are in abundance as are hippo and aquatic birds including a good chance of seeing Shoebills. The launch trip is about three hours. Then drive to top of the falls for lunch and walk in the area to obtain excellent views of the falls where the Nile is forced through a 20-foot wide gap in the rocks and drops 145 feet over the escarpment. This is said to be the largest natural force of water in the world creating what appears to be a boiling caldron of water. All meals and overnight at Nile Safari Camp.
Day 4: Murchison Falls Park
Drive and take a ferry across the Nile to game drive in the northern sector of the park, most of the game is to be found in the area north of the Victoria Nile River and East of the Albert Nile and Lake Albert. This is where part of the movie The African Queen was filmed. Game is now returning quite rapidly and game drives can be very exciting. Game often seen includes elephant, oribi, giraffe, waterbuck, hartebeest, topi, buffalo, sitatunga, bushbuck, warthog, bush pig, lion, leopard, mongoose, genet, hyena, jackal and bat eared fox. Day 5: Murchison Falls Park – Kibale Forest.
After breakfast, drive to Kibale Forest area, the drive is a full day of approximately eight hours. After leaving the Rift Valley pass through beautiful agricultural countryside where every type of fruit and vegetable imaginable is grown. Upon reaching Kyanjojo, in the lower foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains {Mountains of the Moon}, we drive through beautiful tea plantations and into Kibale tropical rain forest. Lunch will be a picnic.
Arrive at the beautiful Ndali Lodge, situated on a high saddle between two crater lakes. The breathtaking views and cooler climate at Ndali are just some of its best features. The lodge was built by the late Captain Mark Price, a British tea farmer, and is managed as a working farm by his family today. The rooms are decorated in local crafts and materials, and feature high ceilings and four-poster beds with mosquito netting. The en suite baths have hot and cold running water and flush toilets. There is no electricity at this lodge, but ample candle and oil lamps are provided in the evening, creating a romantic feel of "old Africa". Dinner and overnight at Ndali Lodge.
Day 6: Kibale Forest
Today we take forest and swamp walks to see the rain forest and view birds and primates, including chimpanzees. Walking is not difficult, paths have been made in the forest and all walks are with excellent local guides. All meals at Ndali Lodge.
Day 7: Kibale Forest – Queen Elizabeth Forest
After breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, taking about 3½ hours. The drive passes through Fort Portal and then south along the eastern length of The Rwenzori Mountains, with the hope of viewing the glaciated peaks, weather permitting. We again gently descend into The Great African Rift Valley and Queen Elizabeth National Park and Mweya Lodge, situated on a peninsula overlooking Lake Edward and Kasinga Channel, offering beautiful views of the park with the Rwenzori Mountains in the background. All meals and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge.
Day 8: Queen Elizabeth Park
Game drives in Queen Elizabeth National Park including a launch trip of about two hours on the Kasinga Channel to view some of the largest concentration of hippo in the world {reported to be about 30,000} and other game with excellent birding. Queen Elizabeth National Par is one of best birding parks in Africa, with over 560 recorded species and a record of 296 bird species seen in one 24 hour period. All meals and overnight at Mweya Lodge.
Day 9: Queen Elizabeth – Entebbe
After breakfast, depart for Entebbe, which takes about 7 hours, with lunch en route. If time permits it's possible to stop in Kampala for shopping and lunch and the Mpigi Royal Drum Makers. Dinner and overnight at Lake Victoria Hotel.
Day 10: Entebbe – Depart
Breakfast at the hotel. Use of room until 10.00hrs only. Transfer to Entebbe airport for departure flight.
