Day 1: Arrival Maun, Botswana – Air transfer to Okavango

On arrival in Maun, guests are met by our representative and transferred to the light charter aircraft for the flight into their first camp located in the south east of Okavango delta.

The Okavango supports an amazing abundance of wildlife including lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, giraffe, hyena, wild dog, kudu, impala, roan, zebra, lechwe, hippo and crocodile to name a few. The waters of the Okavango support 80 species of fish including bream and the beautiful tiger fish.

The diverse habitats of the Okavango Delta support an impressive array of bird life, with around 500 bird species recorded.  Accommodation at Pom Pom Camp, Okavango.

Day 2 and 3: Safari activities in Okavango

Full days safari activities in this part of the delta. The great miracle of Okavango is that its floodwater arrives across the delta at the start of the dry season, in May, June and July. The primary reason for this delayed arrival is that the Okavango river rises so far away, in the highlands of Angola some 500km to the northwest and it takes months for the water to flow slowly downstream and filter out across the delta.

Activities here center on the game drives as well as walks in some of the Okavango’s most scenic and private areas. Accommodation at Pom Pom Camp

Day 4: Flight to Kasane ( 1 hr)  – Drive to Chobe Lodge (15 Mins)

Today you are flown from the first camp, to a contrasting sector of the Okavango to enjoy the activities on offer there. You shift to the northern part of the delta.  Activities include Mokoro-ing, boating, fishing, walks – and at some camps, game drives are on offer.

This is a completely contrasting region to the Okavango Delta.  The Chobe River flows along the north-eastern border of the park and is a favorite watering ‘hole’ for large herds of elephant, buffalo and other mammal species during the dry season. The area is characterized by lush plains and dense teak forest.

Elephant are often spotted swimming from island to island in search of good grazing. Activities are enjoyed around the Savuti Channel or Linyanti River on boats, vehicles or from hides. Accommodation at the Chobe Safari Lodge.

Day 5: Safari activities in Chobe National Park

Whole day safari activities in the area. The days are devoted to safari game drives, bush walks and boat rides on the waterways of the Okavango.  Enjoy glimpses of stealthy predators like leopard and lion, or the incredible hunting skills of a pack of African wild dog. Elephant, hippo and crocodile occur in abundance in the delta’s reed-lined waterways.

Learn more about this unique ecosystem and the creatures that dwell within while in the company of the lodge’s skilled trackers and rangers. Accommodation at  Chobe Safari Lodge.

Day 6: Road Transfer to Victoria Falls

Safari activities in the area. The day is devoted to two game activities alternating between land- and water-based safaris. The presence of an experienced ranger and tracker will enable you to explore the wonders of this wilderness area and enable you to gain some insight into the habits and behavior of the animal species.

An afternoon sunset cruise on the Chobe River offers a unique vantage point from which to view the herds of antelope and elephant as they approach the water’s edge for a late afternoon drink, their senses always primed to detect predators that might be lurking in the vegetation along the riverbank. Stay at Kwando Lagoon.

Day 7: Victoria Falls Tours

Today, you are flown from the camp to Kasane where they board vehicles for 85 km drive to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.

On arrival, check into a hotel on a bed and breakfast basis, leaving them free to eat where they please and take in any of the wonderful activities available in the falls. This program is designed with only 1 night at the Victoria Falls.

(You might want to sign up for a one day white water rafting, elephant back riding etc, or you want to enjoy the Victoria Falls at a more leisurely pace, then you need to book into the falls for 2 nights.)

Accommodation – Azambezi River Lodge

Day 8: Departure

The safari ends after breakfast with your transfer from your hotel or lodge to the airport.
