This is a 16-day Africa Safari visiting Victoria Falls, Masai Mara Game Reserve, the Serengeti and the mountain Gorillas in Rwanda. The tour is designed to begin from the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, southern Africa. After 3 nights, you fly to Nairobi in Eastern Africa to begin the trip that will take you to Kenya’s Masai mara, Tanzania Serengeti and Ngorongoro before flying to Rwanda to visit the endangered Mountain Gorillas in Volcanoes National park.

Day 1: Arrive Africa – Victoria Falls–Zimbabwe

Experience your first fascinating sight of the Victoria Falls from the air before you arrive at Victoria Falls airport, Zimbabwe. You will be met by Hallmark Travel Planners rep and be transferred after your arrival to your accommodation – Azambezi River Lodge – where you have the rest of the day to spend at your leisure.

Day 2: Guided Tour of Victoria Falls

This morning after breakfast, you will be taken on a guided walking tour to the spectacular Victoria Falls through the splendid spray-drenched rain forest with its extraordinary plants and birds. This is a ‘must do’ tour when in Zimbabwe. The tour takes you on a fantastic journey to experience and photograph all the classic and best views of the fall, the Cataracts and Livingstone’s statue.

Later you will relax upstream on a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River with plenty of game viewing opportunities such as elephant, giraffe and antelope make their way to the river’s edge. Overnight at Azambezi river lodge or similar.

Day 3: Optional Tours of Victoria Falls

No schedule activities. You are free to take part in any of the excursions in and around Vic Falls. On this day, the morning is left for additional activities in and around Victoria Falls, possible activities include Flight over the Victoria Falls either on Helicopter or Macrolight flight. It is important to pre-book as they can be over-booked.

Late afternoon pick up for a sunset boat cruise on the African Queen on the Zambezi River. The African Queen is a triple deck 70ft catamaran, furnished with Rhodesian Teak, Beech Wood and brass finishes. On arrival at the Royal Landing, you are greeted with a cold cocktail and the sounds of the Marimba Band, a local instrument that laments the sounds of Africa. A full bar on both upper and lower deck serve a selection of cocktails, iced drinks and a variety of snacks.

In the fading twilight hours, take a sunset cruise. Heed the call of Africa while sipping traditional cocktails and enjoying light snacks. – Return to your hotel for overnight.

Day 4: Flight from Livingstone, Zambia to Nairobi Kenya

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before your transfer to Tanzania via Kilimanjaro Airport. Morning free before transfer to the airport for flight to Nairobi, Kenya. There is only 3 flights per week – Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Take a 4 hour 30 minutes flight via Harare to arrive Nairobi in the late evening – around 2200 hours.

Day 5: Morning Rest Afternoon Flight to Masai Mara

Sleep in this morning. Late breakfast. Lunch at your hotel. Later pick up from the hotel and transfer to the airport for an afternoon flight to Maasai Mara. You arrive at the airstrip and meet your guide from the safari camp. Enjoy a short game drive to the safari camp. Check in for dinner and overnight.

Day 6-7: Safaris in Masai Mara Game Reserve

You will have 2 full days of safari activities. Either full day game drives with picnic lunches or 2 extended game drives with a lunch break in between.

The famous Mara is renowned for its great herds of plain’s game including the black-maned lions, leopard and cheetah. It also has numerous elephants and virtually every type of wildlife available in Kenya. You will have 3 game drives during the day and will also be able to enjoy the rich, tree studded grassland and rolling hills. Alternatively, you can opt for full days of game drives taking picnic lunch boxes from your lodge. All meals and overnight at Ashnil Mara Camp.

Day 8: Drive from Masai Mara to Serengeti

Today you take an early breakfast and leave for Tanzania. After customs and immigration procedure, you will be met by our counterparts from the Tanzania partner office and drive into Serengeti Game Reserve. With game drive en route, you will arrive Serengeti Serena at around 1800 hours. Look out for famous African Big Five – Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo, and Rhino and of course Lion but also hundreds of colorful and lesser-known species such as lilac-breasted rollers, intricately marbled Charaxes butterflies and umbrella thorn acacia trees. Day 9-10: Safari Activities in Masai Mara

Experience 2 full days of safaris in Serengeti National Park as it provides a good overall experience at a relaxed pace. You will experience Serengeti’s natural beauty, capture boastful wildlife photographs and have amazing African wildlife encounters.

With so much on offer, a full day in Serengeti Park safari is the best way to experience the park if you have limited time and want to learn more about the park from a knowledgeable guide. Enjoy a full day game drive in northern Serengeti to have higher chances of spotting migrating wildebeests, Burchell’s zebras, elands and Thomson’s Gazelles filling the entire stretch of landscape. Overnight at Serengeti Mawe Camp or similar.

Day 11: Drive Serengeti to Ngorongoro crater

After breakfast, depart very early in the morning with your expert guide. Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater rim for views of a breathtaking sunset over the ancient caldera. The Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtakingly beautiful setting and the best place in Tanzania to see the Big Five. Have a chance to encounter a healthy population of black rhino and some of the largest tusker elephants left in Africa today.

Supported by a year round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro National Park supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another big draw card to this picturesque national park is its dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes require a trained eye to spot. Over night at Rhino lodge or similar.

Day 12: Ngorongoro Crater Tour

After breakfast descend to the Ngorongoro Crater floor and catch up with the early risers! A massive extinct volcano, the sheet walls of Ngorongoro Crater drop 600 metres to a “Noah’s Ark” of animals on the verdant floor below.

Full day enjoying the views of Africa best animals including herds of zebras, buffalo, antelopes and wildebeest graze while lions laze in the sun. Overnight Farm of Dreams Lodge or similar.

Day 13: Drive Karatu to Kilimanjaro Fly to Kigali

Breakfast at your lodge, and then depart for Arusha town. You can go for an optional Arusha town tour to visit the Cultural Heritage gallery, curio shops, the Tanzanite Experience, before transferring to Kilimanjaro Airport for your departure flight to Rwanda. You will be welcomed on arrival and transferred to Kigali for relaxation and overnight stay. Overnight stay Flame Tree Village.

Day 14: Morning Kigali City Tour Afternoon drive to Kinigi

This morning after breakfast, discover Rwanda’s largest and richest city on this in-depth half-day tour. Stroll through the bustling markets, see the city’s major highlights, and gain an appreciation for its rich cultural fusion, a lively blending of French and Bantu influences. The tour will include the deeply moving and very well designed Gisozi Genocide Museum, where more than 250,000 Rwandans who were killed during the 1994 genocide have been buried.

In the afternoon transfer to Kinigi, close to Volcanoes national park—the starting point for the gorilla trekking in Rwanda.  Overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge or similar.

Day 15: Gorilla Trekking Volcanoes National park

After Early morning breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for briefing and later take a trek through the rain forest to see the mountain gorillas in their natural environment in the volcanoes National Park. Be part of history and see some of the mountain gorillas remaining on Earth, and nearly half live in the forests of the Virunga mountains in central Africa.

Your trek again starts in the cultivated foothills of the Virunga’s offering stirring views in all directions. When it enters the national park, trekkers will be immersed in the mysterious intimacy of the rain forest, alive with the colorful bird calls, chattering golden monkeys, littered with fresh spoor of the mountains’ elusive buffalo and elephant.

Upon sighting the gorillas, you will stay with them for a magical hour as they go about their daily life, feeding, playing, resting; raising their young. After the trek, rejoin your driver Guide – back to hotel. Overnight at your hotel in Kigali – Flame Tree Village.

Day 16: Flight to Nairobi Depart

Breakfast at the hotel in Kigali. Transfer to the airport for the flight to Nairobi, from where you can connect your flight out of Africa.
